Photo-Exhibition "Some Cups of Butter-Tea - Daily Life in Zanskar", 4.-26th August 2012, Lonpo House (near Leh Palace), Leh, Ladakh, J&K India
The Project "Kamerakidz", which started in August 2011 in Zanskar, is showing its first Photo-Exhibition "Some Cups of Buttertea – Daily life in Zanskar" from 5th to 26th Aug, 2012 in collaboration with the Himalayan Cultural Heritage Foundation at Lonpo-House, Leh.
Taken by the children of the SECPADS-School between Karsha and Hongshed in Zanskar, will be showing a variety of motifs as portraits, landscapes, animals, people doing their daily work, gompas, monks and nuns, buddhist objects – everything what the children found worth capturing.
Aged between 12 and 15 years, the children were given small digital cameras and introductions in two periods of 2,5 weeks in August 2011 and May/June 2012.
In this exhibition the audience can get a good impression of the daily life in Zanskar. The photos will show a reality which looks very familiar to the inhabitants of the region, but still like an unknown world to outsiders. The insight, they get from Zanskar, through these photos is a very realistic one. Nothing was set-up for the photos.
The Kamerakidz try to sell a lot of products with their photos like prints, calenders and postcards to become independent from donations, but they are not so far yet, so they are very thankful to their sponsors for this exhibition, especially Reach Ladakh, Overland Escape and Athenstaedt-Foundation and their host Himalayan Cultural Heritage Foundation.
